A method is shown for producing a 'trial map' by mathematical operations on the point source autocorrelation distribution on the assumption that the point sources can be modeled by two-dimensional Dirac delta functions. It is noted that such a method will be applicable to the reduction of speckle data where the autocorrelation is that of a many-body unresolved source distribution. The restrictions on the proposed method require that there be no repetition of vector separation in the object distribution. The importance of also taking into consideration the range of brightnesses of the cluster members is stressed.
