QSOs of redshift larger than 2 have been resolved with arcsecond resolution on 4m-class ground-based telescopes. Both line and continuum flux have been detected over a few arcseconds, but the nature of the extended emission, and its relation to the nuclear energy source is unclear. However their {UV rest-frame} fluxes suggest they are galaxies with star-formation on a very large scale. Deep WFPC2 images are proposed in two colours to resolve and characterize selected high redshift QSOs whose host galaxies have been detected. We propose specially designed PSF observations for prescription retrieval modelling to deal with the problematic nuclear point source contamination. We will also combine the HST data with ground-based adaptive-optics images from the Canada-France- Hawaii Telescope, to increase the signal and resolution in the fainter regions.
