A phoswich detector incorporating interleaved strips of NaI and CsI scintillator crystals has been used as the detection plane of a multipitch rotating modulation collimator (RMC) which has produced high-quality images of both multiple point sources and extended objects. The particular characteristics of the point spread function of such a telescope have been examined in some detail in order to optimise the design of a telescope for a possible future space mission.
