Solar Activity

In 2001 the Sun displayed an activity slightly lower than in 2000. The Section received 2064 reports covering more than 80% of the year, with a mean daily value of 5.65 observations. The photospheric evolution in visible light was accurately followed. We report here on this important activity, which has preceded the gradual attenuation expected to lead toward the minimum of this 23th sunspot cycle, probably occurring around 2005-2006.
