Non-thermal supernova remnants (SNRs) are important objects for the study of cosmic ray physics, however, due to the current limited sample, their overall properties are not clearly understood. We propose XMM observations to characterize the spectra of four candidate synchrotron-dominated shells. Any confirmation of non-thermal emission will allow the inference of maximum electron energies, while detecting thermal emission will provide information on the remnant age, ambient density, composition, and supernova type. Either case, or both, will further our understanding of SNR evolution and particle acceleration.
