The spectral line U 90.7 was first observed by Snyder and Buhl in a study of interstellar molecular clouds in 1971. A description is given of laboratory investigations in which it was demonstrated that U 90.7 corresponds to an absorption line of the isohydrocyanic acid (HNC). The experiments showed also that this isomer of the hydrocyanic acid (HCN) can exist under terrestrial conditions only for time intervals of a fraction of a second. The geometrical structure of the HNC molecule, as obtained on the basis of the experimental data, is considered and a table with the interstellar emission characteristics of HNC, HCN, and HCO(+) is presented.
