It is presently argued that Chinese observers of the December 7, 185 'guest star' witnessed the birth of the pulsar PSR1509 - 58 in the SNR MSH15-52. If so, this pulsar is only the second (after that in the Crab Nebula) to have a known age. Timing measurements of the age of PSR1509 - 58 are in keeping with a birth of the order of 1800 years ago. Attention is given to the relative claims of the present SNR identification with the more generally accepted one of MSH14 - 63.
