The reported investigation makes use of concepts reported by White (1979), who demonstrated the relationship between the n-point correlation functions of all orders and the probability distribution of the occupation number of volumes of a given size. It is pointed out that White's idea provides an alternative route for testing concepts about higher-order correlation functions. The investigation employs the probability distributions of regions on the sky empty of galaxies, and of empty regions surrounding galaxies, to investigate the structure of the n-point correlation functions to quite high orders. Some estimates based on the Zwicky catalogue of galaxies are presented.
