Results of a study of CIV, Si IV and NV interstellar absorption lines in
IUE spectra of distant early stars in the halo of our galaxy are
summarized. The study detected CIV and Si IV lines towards approximately
two-thirds of the sample of 24 stars. The NV line, however, is only
detected towards two stars.
