An inhomogeneous cosmological model is derived in a five-dimensional universe in the presence of matter containing a homogeneous perfect fluid characterized by ϱ = ϱ(t) and p = p(t). Our result differs essentially from the well known 4-D Friedmann- Robertson-Walker model in the sense that our model is spatially inhomogenous. Assuming an equation of state p = mp (m is a constant) the exact nature of the scale factor R(t) is found and its implications on cosmological evolution are also described. The singularities in the geometry of our metric are also very briefly studied.
