The author shortly reviews works done at the VTT of SPO during the last 15 years, on both high spatial resolution spectroscopy using polarization analysis and magnetography with a polarization modulator inside the UBF. Respective merits and noticeable results are discussed. The author stresses the importance of using high-speed measurements to track the magnetic signal and avoid losses due to image motion; the efficiency in improving the resolution using the 2-D Wiener filtering is also demonstrated. Subarcsec resolution magnetic maps are discussed, to show not only the dominant-polarity magnetic-elements, but also the mixed minor-polarity and the weak field outside.
