Scatter plots of various pairs of spectral line parameters that describe the magnetic field and the line of sight velocity of an emerging flux region (EFR) are discussed in order to relate magnetic structures and the line of sight velocity field with characteristic areas of an EFR. Eleven slit settings across an EFR, with the slit located across one or more pores during moments of good seeing, are considered. Scatter plots of various spectral line parameters are used to isolate specific magnetic elements such as pores, faculae, and elements with strongly inclined field, and to relate these elements with characteristic portions of the EFR. The model dependency of the conclusions derived from comparison between observed and computed spectral line parameters is assessed.
