The highly favorable perigee passage of the x-ray bright comet 2P/Encke in late 2003 provides an excellent opportunity to finally use Chandra's full spatial and temporal resolution to resolve cometary x-ray emission. In 54 ksec, during 1 rotation of Encke's nucleus, we will use the ACIS-S instrument to answer the following major questions concerning this new class of x-ray emitters: How do x-ray emitting regions relate to plasma structures in the coma? Are there spatial and temporal variations in the emission due to variability in the solar wind and the 15 hour rotation period of the comet? Are there CXE lines due to N, Ne and Fe present in the emission spectrum, and what is the observed comet-to-comet O^+6/O^+7 line ratio variability due to?
