Extinction values of light from high latitude stars listed in the Bright Star Catalog have been calculated and compared to the estimated extinction values at those coordinates. Results are presented. The estimates appear to represent a lower limit of the actual extinction. Subsequently, nineteen stars from the catalog with significant reddening were examined in terms of their distance, galactic latitude, and position relative to known high latitude galactic clouds. No correlation was found between extinction and distance or latitude but some correlation was found with the clouds.
