Propagation of cosmic rays in intergalactic space has been simulated using the Monte Carlo technique. The measured cosmic ray spectrum is adequately reproduced in the energy range between 1018 eV and the maximum measured energy of 3×1020 eV assuming a uniform distribution of sources in the universe. The shape of the spectrum above the latter energy is also calculated predicting an additional ankle at 5×1020 eV.
