The paper demonstrates a relationship between the 35d behavior of X-ray absorption dips and turn-ons, and shows that both types of events are correlated with approximately 35d apparent precession period of the accretion disk as indicated by optical observations. This analysis leads to a tentative characterization of the noise properties of the 35d clock, and consequently provides a constraint on physical models for the clock mechanism. It is concluded that the clock is most likely to be found within the physics of the mass transfer-accretion process itself.
