This work concerns the processes of heat generation and transfer which accompany stratification of an initially homogeneous planet into the core and mantle. The effect of thermal instability of gravitational differentiation and a simple scheme of development of differentiation in the strongly stratified (in accordance with pressure-temperature conditions) medium are discussed.
