Photometric and spectroscopic observations of HD 183133 indicate that it is a new Be interacting binary system. A Fourier analysis of the light curve shows that the period of the system is 48.08 d, with an amplitude of only 0.028 mag. High-resolution Hα spectroscopy shows line-profile changes on the same time-scale as the photometric variations. There is some variation in behaviour from cycle to cycle at the 0.01-mag level in the photometry and in the line-profile variations. There is no indication that the system is eclipsing.
