An apparatus involving a small screen located in an image plane of the entrance pupil has been developed for Hartmann tests on new large telescopes of the MPIA at Calar Alto. Aberrations of telescope optics are obtained with reference to an aberration-free beam. Successful tests were carried out on the Ritchey-Chretien focus of the 2.2-m telescope at Calar Alto.
