The characteristics of halos observed in a deep lead X-ray emulsion chamber are examined. It is found that hadron halos, produced by hadrons in the deep regions of the chamber, are observed in addition to halos of electromagnetic origin. The spatial and longitudinal evolution of a halo is used to estimate the formation height and the energy of the particle forming the halo.
