Intra-thruster performance parameters are: i) ionization degree; ii) average ion charge; iii) voltage loss parameter; iv) electron loss parameter. Special probes and instrumentation are required for direct measurement of these parameters. In this paper an approach is presented for intra-thruster parameters determination on the basis of simple thruster tests. Essentially, it is enough to measure voltage, mass flow rate, thrust and power. A mathematical model is developed for intra-thruster performances on the basis of ground tests of different Hall thrusters and a number of simple physical limitations. The analytic dependences between input and output parameters as obtained with the mathematical model here presented are fairly accurate. Results of this mathematical model can be applied for determination of intra-thruster parameters.
