We investigate the attenuation of hadrons in deep inelastic lepton-nucleus
scattering in the kinematical regime of the HERMES and Jefferson Lab
experiments. The calculation is carried out in the framework of a BUU transport
model. Our results indicate a strong influence of (pre)hadronic final state
interactions on the observed multiplicity ratios.
