H I and optical observations of the peculiar galaxy UGC 6081 located in the cluster A1142 are reported. The galaxy appears to be a very distorted, perhaps heavily reddened, edge-on spiral that is interacting with another galaxy. Low-excitation emission lines are seen in the optical spectrum. The 21 cm observations reveal a deep (approximately 70 mJy) H I absorption line with no detectable emission-line wings. The radio continuum flux at 1370 MHz is 270 mJy, and the radio emission may be extended. This object is thus another member of a class of interacting/disturbed galaxies that exhibit nuclear activity.
