Millimeter observations of NGC 1052 show evidence for at least two
outbursts between 1972 and 1981. We can interpret the observations in
terms of an adiabatically expanding synchrotron model. Unlike the more
active BL Lac objects and QSOs, the mild bursts in NGC 1052 do not
produce excessive surface brightness or relativistic expansion.
