Changes in IR spectra during thermal treatment of chemisorption products
of glycine and valine vapours on dehydrated silica surfaces have been
studied. Peptide products were formed from these chemisorbed species. A
scheme of peptide chain growth on the silica surface is suggested based
on the idea of ester type “activated intermediates”.
