Great developments have been made in the field of high S/N spectroscopy on stellar physics in recent 10 years. This paper give a short review on the important advances of observational approach to better understanding the chemical abundances and physical structure of stars by high S/N spectroscopy. The authors give prospects for research work with the Chinese 2.16 m telescope with a fiber-feeding echelle coudé spectrograph.
