The gravitational instability of an infinite homogeneous fluid in the presence of a nonlinear magnetic field is investigated, with consideration given to the effects of both the magnetic field and rotation. In all cases, the condition of instability is determined by Jeans' criterion. The nonlinearity is found to have no effect on the condition of instability. However, it has a quantitative effect on the values of the growth rate of the perturbation.
