An exact solution of the Poisson equation for the density distribution
in a rotating planet, obtained for a polytropic exponent n = 1, is
applied to the calculation of the gravitational moments J2, J4, and J6
of the planet. The results are used to derive the equation of state of a
polytropic model of the planet Jupiter.
