Various theoretical and experimental aspects of gravimetry are reviewed, including the character of the earth's gravitational field; the earth's figure; gravity anomalies, the earth's structure, and gravity surveys; variations of gravity with time; gravimetry instrumentation and measurement accuracy; and measurements on the ocean and in the atmosphere. Finally, the features of spaceborne gravimetry are also discussed.
