The past decade has revealed huge diversity in neutron star (NS) properties. From rotation-powered pulsars (RPs) to magnetars to the `isolated neutron stars' (INSs), the leading physical characteristic in defining a NS's observational behavior has been argued to be magnetic field B. Here we propose X-ray observations of a high-B radio pulsar which represents a key juncture among the above 3 observationally distinct classes. We request XMM re-observations of PSR B1845-19 (original observations were contaminated by background flares), a very nearby high-B RP having spin parameters similar to those of the INSs, to test whether B is the `grand unification' parameter, as predicted in recent models of NS B decay.
