In this talk we will describe the development status of the Gamma-ray
Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST). We will also present the most recent
simulations of the scientific capability of the mission. The latter
includes simulations of the diffuse gamma rays expected from supernova
remnants, the Magellanic clouds, and M31.
