It is shown that the indices An, Aa, and As of the magnetic activity at solar minimum are precursors and useful predictors of the evolution of the sunspot cycle to follow. Scatter diagrams of the minimum values of An, As, and Aa of a cycle against the maximum Rz of the succeeding cycle are shown, and the correlation coefficients are highly significant. These indices also appear to be precursors of the rate of increase from minimum to maximum of the next cycle.
