It is shown that nonlinear interaction of magnetosonic waves with slow
plasma motion can give rise to two dimensional vortices in a
magnetoplasma. The growth rates of the modulational instability are
obtained analytically for two cases. Application of the results to the
solar wind plasma is discussed.
