The relations between mass and radius and between mass and entropy in the outer convective zone are presented for homogeneous stars which are subject to an additional luminosity transfer (positive or negative). This luminosity transfer is supposed to take place in the adiabatic part of the outer convective zone. Such models can simulate the components of contact binaries. For a wide range of coupling conditions between the components, contact binary models in thermal equilibrium can be constructed on the basis of these results and the influence of the various parameters can be discussed. This will be demonstrated by examples which concern in particular the dependence of the angular momentum on the mass ratio and on the coefficients in the transport equation.
