We present a lattice formulation of Einstein-Cartan gravity which avoids
the presence of a non-zero cosmological constant. We discuss the
possible implications of this in comparison with QCD, in particular
associated with confinement, and suggest a new approach to quantum
cosmology which avoids perturbation about an unknown background field.
