The process of selection, characterization, and calibration preceding the analysis of raw data obtained from the International Research on the Interior of the Sun (IRIS) instrument is described. A complete software package was developed for the calibration of one day of data from the IRIS instrument on the Kumbel mountain, taking into account all known astronomical motions contributing to the line-of-sight velocity between the sun and the instrument as well as the apparent residual velocity generated by the nonuniform integration of the solar rotation as seen through the earth atmosphere. The power spectrum of one day of data appears to be solar noise limited, showing the good quality of the Kumbel sky, the good adjustment of the instrumental parameters, and the efficiency of the calibration procedure. A block diagram of the raw data calibration software is presented.
