In the present work, silicate glasses co-doped with Tb3+ and Sm3+ ions are prepared and their photoluminescence properties are determined by excitation and emission spectra. The high-energy g-ray irradiation effects on luminescent properties of these glasses are examined and the redox processes involved are illustrated. Especially, the possibility of gamma irradiation as a tool to modify the color rendering index of glasses is discussed.
