We review some tools used to find the GRB distance scale. None of them cood lead to a clear evidence. One of the currently explored tool is the search for real-time burster counterparts, thanks to the rapid dissemination of burster positions given by the CGRO/BATSE and HETE experiments. We present the reason of this approach, the expectations at various wavelengths from the eV to the ZeV, and the state of the current realizations.
