The solution for the gravitational potential of spiral density waves corresponding to the long-wave mode within the corotation radius is continued beyond the corotation point. The transition through the corotation radius, the spiral-arm potential near that radius, the continuation of the long-wave mode into the region near the corotation radius, and the gas motion in the gravitational field of spiral arms are analyzed. It is found that in the outer region the short-wave mode will give rise to an extra spiral arm. Solutions describing the perturbed gas motion in such a potential field are obtained in terms of the linear theory.
