Black holes were predicted by Einstein's Theory of Relativity, but confirmation of their existance was to wait until the 1990s. Quasars, or quasi-stellar objects, are tremendously bright and the source of strong radio waves. Scientists currently believe that black holes are at the core of quasars. The evidence for black holes is in the effect they have on the objects around them; black holes themselves cannot be directly observed. So far, most black holes are found at the center of galaxies, including our own Milky Way.
