I consider the use of imperfect cluster states as a resource for the construction of larger cluster states via fusion operations. Imperfections, in the form of dephasing, is assumed to arise from the necessity to store cluster states until they are needed. First, I study the case where the dephased two-qubit cluster states are the basic resource for the construction of all larger cluster states, all fusion operations are successful, and no further dephasing occurs during the construction process. This allows us to explore how decoherence of the basic, primitive clusters translate into imperfections of the larger cluster states constructed from them. I then assume that storage is needed, and hence decoherence occurs, before every attempted fusion operation and attempt to determine the best way to build a five qubit cluster. To do this I examine different construction methods and include the effects of the fusion operations failing. Fidelity is used as the measure of accuracy for the constructed cluster states.
