The occurrence of long range trans-equatorial signals received at Townsville is shown to follow definite seasonal and diurnal variations. Afternoon signals are heard regularly during the equinoctial months, while evening signals show a marked decrease in occurrence as the sun-spot cycle progresses toward minimum. Frequency-signal strength relationships based on the observations are also discussed.
