The correlation between the radio emission of galaxies and optical signs of activity of their nuclei, in which the central compact radio sources are found mainly in the galaxies having split, starlike, or semistellar nuclei, is confirmed using the results of new high resolution radio observations of spiral galaxies. The surface brightness of galaxies with bright central condensations of relatively large diameter (designated 3 in the Byurakan classification) are shown to average higher if the galaxies have central compact radio sources. The higher surface brightnesses of galaxies with central radio sources are suggested to be due to the existence of not too bright starlike nuclei which cannot be distinguished on the background of the bright central parts of these galaxies.
