Based on the success of the IRTS launched in 1995, we are developing a new infrared satellite mission called ``IRIS'' to be launched in 2003. IRIS is a 70 cm liquid helium cooled telescope, which will be dedicated to high resolution and high sensitivity survey works from 2 to 200 μ m, using large format array cameras in near and mid infrared and wide span linear array scanners in far-infrared. A bigger mission tentatively called ``H2/L2'' is also in consideration as a future program beyond IRIS.
