The present investigation is concerned with an analysis of kinematic restrictions on three waves processes involving a Langmuir wave parallel to the magnetic field and a low-frequency wave, which may be an ion sound wave, a lower hydrid wave or a resonant whistler wave. Two important qualitative conclusions follow from the results of the analysis. According to the first conclusion, the kinematic restrictions on three-wave processes involving a Langmuir wave and a low-frequency wave are more stringent than it was previously realized. The other conclusion is that the four-wave processes considered appear to be fast enough to saturate under far from extreme conditions in the solar corona.
