X-Ray Binaries: X-Ray Pulsars, X-Ray Binaries: X-Ray Variations

Scientific paper

Cen X-3 is an X-ray binary pulsar which has a 4.8 sec period X-ray pulsation, 2.09 days orbital period of this binary. The companion is a visible OB type star. The irregularity of the X-ray radiation from these objects has been a target of nonlinear study. The author suggests that the irregular variations of Galactic X-ray sources might be caused by nonlinear oscillations of accretion disks or related flows. He examines whether the variability of the X-ray pulse height which depends on flowing accreting matter can be reconstructed as fractal attractor. If not, the variability will be caused from the superposition of local variability in and near the X-ray emission region.
