This paper presents the first complete photoelectric light curves of the southern late B-type eclipsing binary AO Vel, which is a triple system. The orbit of the eclipsing pair is eccentric, and rapid apsidal motion is present. The uvby observations, 718 in each colour, were obtained during 10 nights in January 1974. One of the comparison stars, HR3203, is found to be slightly variable. A detailed analysis of AO Vel is published separately.
