A physical-mathematical model of the auroral-bulge evolution is developed. This model is based on a closed system of equations describing the motion of a plasma tube and the electric-field distribution, with self-consistent allowance for the effects of ionospheric-magnetospheric interaction through field-aligned currents. The magnetospheric plasma is described by the CGL approximation, while the ionospheric plasma is described by the height-integral conductivity tensor.
