Diurnal variations of f0F2 are calculated for a magnetically quiet day (August 6, 1969) for which there are data on vertical electromagnetic drift. The calculations confirm the result obtained by Leshchinskaia and Mikhailov (1980) in their investigation of the biteout phenomenon. According to this result, there exist two peaks, morning and evening, in the diurnal variations of ne(m)F2; the morning peak is connected with ionization-recombination processes, while the evening peak is connected with electrodynamic-drift variations.
