A possible mechanism of bar formation in an explosive process is investigated with consideration given to the dynamical coupling between the bars and spiral arms. In the present calculation, a model of a needle-shaped body of homogeneous density with the long axis oriented in the plane of the galaxy is used; the central body undergoing the cataclysm is replaced by a gas-filled cylinder. The motion considered creates a shock front that evolves into a spiral shape, though in the region of the rear of the bar, two rarefaction waves will exist.
